FOOD DONATIONS

MONTVILLE, NJ – After you clean out a closet or a room, what do you do with all the stuff? It’s not a good idea to put it all in the garbage, to go to the landfill. A better way to deal with it is to donate it to companies, charities, or even individuals who can use it.  The next time you’re cleaning out, consider donating to these organizations:

Book and Media Swaps

  • The Book Barn  - located at 18 Pocono Road, Denville, NJ. Shop, volunteer or donate gently used books. The Book Barn does not accept any encyclopedias and text books older three years. Proceeds go to local charities. The store hours are Wednesday-Thursday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Call before donating, (973)625-6411. Book donations accepted during business hours; The Book Barn does not provide pick-up service.

  • Old Book Shop - located at Old Book Shop 4 John Street Morristown, New Jersey 07960 (973) 538-1210. Monday - Saturday, 10:00am - 5:30pm. Sunday is closed.

Physical Sites/Stores/Outlets

  • Morris Habitat for Humanity ReStore  - located off Route 10 at 274 South Salem St., Suite 100 Randolph, New Jersey 07869 and 415 Hamburg Tpke, Bldg A, Wayne, NJ 07470. The ReStore keeps furniture, appliances, and building materials out of the waste stream by accepting donations of these new and gently used materials for sale at low prices. The proceeds fund Morris Habitat for Humanity's home building projects. Pickup may be available.

  • The Market Street Mission maintains a 25,000 square-foot industrial center, which houses a thrift store and warehouse, at the end of George Street off Martin Luther King Avenue in Morristown. Among the items offered for sale at bargain prices are new and used furniture, clothing, housewares, appliances, sporting goods, office furnishings, and knick-knacks. The thrift store accepts donations of most items except toys, magazines, tires, batteries, and weapons. Donations are tax-deductible, and all proceeds benefit the Mission. Mission trucks, operated by men in the work therapy program and are used to collect donated items on a weekly schedule. Call (973)538-0427 for free pickup.

  • Community Food Bank of New Jersey is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that distributes over 23 million pounds of food and groceries a year, ultimately serving 1,656 non-profit programs including 436 programs served by its partner distribution organizations. Through their combined efforts, they assist three-quarters of a million low-income people in 18 of New Jersey's 21 counties. They will provide pickup of large quantities only.

  • Interfaith Food Pantry Serving Morris County is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides food and groceries to eligible Morris County residents. The Interfaith Food Pantry purchases food whenever donations run low in order to maintain our goal of providing reliable assistance to the community. Donations may be dropped off at our warehouse location: 2 Executive Drive, Morris Plains, NJ, Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-4:30pm.

  • The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores are loaded with gently used clothing and household items that are donated through their pickup service, drop-off bins, community centers and stores. The proceeds from these sales fund their adult rehabilitation program, which helps over 216,000 people every year. Our more than 1,497 conveniently located stores offer shoppers the opportunity to purchase quality clothing, furniture, household goods, sporting equipment, books, electronics and much more at bargain prices.   • Goodwill NY/NJ accepts your new or gently used items like clothing, appliances and furniture and sells them in its well-known Goodwill retail stores. Last year, more than 62 million people donated to Goodwill.  There are more than 3,200 Goodwill donation locations in North America. The sales of donations help fund job training and other career services that help people become successful at work. Pickup services are not available.

  • The Bargain Barn - located at 18 Pocono Road, Denville, NJ. Shop volunteer or donate gently used items. Donations must NOT have any mold, rips or stains.   • Green Demolitions The donation super-store is located at 275 Route 46 West, Fairfield, NJ 07004, Tel: (862)210-8332. The 23,000 square foot super-store features a huge "Kitchen World" area plus sections including bathrooms, lighting, furniture, home décor, artwork, cool gifts, luxury bargains, architectural elements, building materials, and more!
    Green Demolitions helps people donate their unused or lightly used appliances, bathrooms, fixtures, furniture, kitchens, etc. to this charity. They have capability to send crews to dismantle and remove items, and they provide paperwork for charitable tax deductions. Likewise, people can shop for donated items at this store.
